Why get your lenses from your Optometrist?

Know The Facts, Why It Makes Sense:

  • Optometrists are the major providers of primary eye care in Ontario. You come to your optometrist for a comprehensive eye and vision exam which evaluates your eye health and determines the correct prescription for you. At the same time, key decisions are made to ensure you have the proper eye wear to fit your particular needs.
  • An Optometrist is governed by a regulated body and as such is not allowed to charge a mark-up or retail percentage on prescription eyewear. They are allowed to charge a professional service fee which is suggested by the Ontario Association of Optometrists and is based on the amount of labour and expertise required to produce that type of prescription.
  • The public is protected from questionable business practices by the College of Optometrists of Ontario. This means that you will never see optometrists offering specials such as “2 for the price of 1” because these hide the true cost of eye wear.
  • Media surveys have shown that patients who receive their glasses from optometrists usually pay less than for comparable quality elsewhere.

You Can Count On Your Optometrist For Professional Service

Optometrists provide full-service vision care. Just as you would expect your dentist to identify a dental problem and then treat it; your optometrist can identify and treat your vision problems and dispense the eye wear you need. Should any problem arise with your prescription eye wear, your optometrist will provide the best possible solution.

Total Primary Eye Care

Remember, the choice of where you purchase your eye wear is always your own. However, when you make your decision to buy glasses, go to the professional who fully understands your ocular condition, who can obtain the best-quality eye wear quickly and cost-effectively, and who will happily explain to you exactly what you are paying for.
