PACHYMETRY Corneal Thickness Measurement The pachymeter uses ultrasound to measure the thickness of the cornea. This allows for greater accuracy when measuring the pressure inside the eye during glaucoma screening. Corneal thickness measurements are also used to help determine if a patient is a candidate for laser vision correction. (Note: Have a link to Laser) NCT (Non-Contact Tonometer)This device uses a gentle puff of air to measure the pressure inside the eye. This is done as a screening test for glaucoma. DIGITAL RETINAL IMAGING Fundus Photography
Our office offers one of the most sophisticated and advanced retinal cameras available. The high optical zoom of the retinal camera is excellent for capturing a detailed picture of the retina, the nerve fiber layer at the back of the eye. It allows for better detection and monitoring of diabetic changes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, hypertension and other retinal diseases. From one visit to the next, Dr. Pachler can easily compare and detect for changes in the health of the eye. VISUAL FIELD ASSESSMENT The visual field analyzer systematically plots your field of vision. This technology allows for evaluation of the normal functioning of the retina and optic nerve. Abnormal functioning may indicate problems such as early or late stage glaucoma, loss in vision due to stroke, brain tumour, or retinal detachment and aneurysms.
